Mission: Patrol the outback and work as customs service in civilized systems.

Total personnel: about 35 million.

In wartime the strength raises to about 50 million.

Use the Other/specialist training with normally one of the star ship packages as base. The extra training package is most often something technical.

Patrol personnel are about half and half deployed in on the star ships and the support/customs bases.

They operate mostly in the outback for patrol and in the major systems for customs patrol.

In wartime about 80% of them would be deployed on the ships.

The patrol normally uses “Patrolman” for all privates and all NCOs are normally called just “Chief” and the commander of a starship is always “Captain” aboard their own ship and usually just “Lieutenant” or “Commander” outside. All admirals regardless of rank are usually just “Admiral”. Full ranks are only used in very official situations like commendations and similar, or when the full rank matters.

The largest ships they operate are the 3000 ton class ships: Frigates, light carriers and light assault ships, but most ships they operate are scouts and increasingly Wyvern class mini patrol ships.

These are the heaviest forces that patrol deploys. The patrol operates almost 50 000 of them. Most of them are in the minor systems as system defense.

• 1 Nebula-class carrier
• 2 Ranger-Class assault ships
• 4 cossack-class scout ships.
• about 6 30 ton fighters
• about 30 10 ton fighters.
• about 4 30 ton shuttles
• 2 colonial marine companies with g-carriers and scout speeders.

These are the typical patrol groups you can meet out on patrol. There are about 500 000 such groups.

The number of light task forces are likely to increase as more and more colonies are founded and thus for the need to protect/patrol them increases. In fact the number has already risen from about 300k to the current number in the last 5 years.

• 2 Wyvern patrol ships (125k)
• or 2 cossack-class scout ships(250k)
• or 2 Anson-class scout ships(125k).

It is estimated than in less than 20 years all the current light task forces will have Wywerns and in meanwhile most Ansons are being replaced by cossacks that are freed from the navy.

Most patrol reserve ships are Anson-class scoutships.

Everyone in the patrol has a personal vacsuit armor as uniform.

• Also many are switching to Monocrys Vacc Suits as interim measure
• The rest of active duty and reserves have Nanoweave Vacc Suits.

Navy

• Not much interaction except in coordinating custom patrols in major systems.

Army

• Army colonial troops serve as ship troops (Colonial marines) on patrol ships so fair amount of interaction.

Survey

• There is normally very little interaction, as survey mostly does their own thing.

Postal service

• Postal service also work as couriers for patrol so there is a fair bit of interaction.

Marshals

• Marshals and the patrol have very little interaction, operating mostly in different places, though some smuggling operation investigations are joint.

Science and Environment

• Patrol and the Science and Environment have very little interaction.

Safety

• Patrol and Safety have very little interaction.

Education and public information

• Patrol and the Education and public information have very little interaction.

Weapon control

• Patrol and the Weapon control have very little interaction.

Treasury

• Patrol and the Treasury have very little interaction.

Palace guard

• Patrol and the Palace guard have very little interaction.

Rangers

• There is a fair bit of interaction as when patrol uncovers some crime that rangers will then investigate and when rangers need a naval force for something, patrol is the one they call.

Special Tactics and Reconnaissance

• Like all other services navy offers assistance when asked.

Local forces:

• Navy often trains with the local naval forces, but have very little interaction with others.
