Ranger

Basics

Uniform: Black base, red head stripe for colonial service. (armors have other red elements too)

Total personnel: about 90,000

Mission:Provide law enforcement in the outback.

Training

Use the base character training package.

Typical ranger is an investigator.

Each ranger is expected to be able to do investigations, survive in the wilds and participate as a crew member in their ship.

Deployment

Most rangers are deployed in small teams and spend their time in colonies helping local law enforcement and tracking down criminals that act across systems.

They have law enforcement powers in all of the outback.

They are usually deployed by scout ships, most of them are ships removed from other imperial service. Most (barely) are now Cossack-class, but only a year or two years ago most were still Anson-class, the replacement of Ansons is expected to be complete within 5 years. They also have few Roswell-class class ships for the quick deployment teams.

There are ranger stations in all sectors that will work as supply bases and coordination points.

Ranks

Almost no privates, due to the demanding nature and small groups of rangers sent out. Some office workers and ship maintenance personnel might be privates, but the typical “Ranger” is a NCO. Typical ranks are “Ranger” and “Master Ranger”. Real ranks are used very seldom.
