Survey
Basics
Uniform: Blue base, red head stripe for colonial service.
Mission: Scout and survey systems, maintain astrogation databases. In wartime picket non imperial systems.
Personnel
Total personnel: about 90 million.
Wartime personnel: about 120 million after the activation of the mothball fleets.
Note: has a flatter command structure than most other services with less effective ranks in common use and with much less high ranking officers than the size of the service would indicate.
Training
Use the Other/specialist training with normally one of the star ship packages as base. The extra training package is most often something technical.
Deployment
About half of survey personnel are deployed on survey ships, a quarter on planetside survey/science teams and a quarter in supporting roles.
They operate mostly in the non imperial systems due to the vastly higher number of such systems than imperial systems.
Ships
Survey operates almost only scout ships, with more than 10 million ships operated total.
In sheer number of starships survey operates a lot more than navy,
About three million of them are Serengeti-Class one million Cossack-class are also now in use, much of the new Roswell-Class production goes to them now with close to 100 000 in service.
There are also still almost 6 million of Anson-Class ships in service. All the Constellation-class exploration frigates are now mothballed.
Almost all mothball ships are Constellation-class though there is a raising number of Anson-Class too as they get relased from active service.
Ranks
Survey normally uses “Surveyor” for all privates, “Chief surveyor” for all NCOs and survey commander for all lower officer ranks.
Full ranks are only used in very official situations like commendations and similar, or when the full rank matters.
Equipment
Everyone in the survey service has a personal vacsuit armor as uniform. Most have Nanoweave Vacc Suits.
Interaction
Navy
- Not much interaction, though while surveying major imperial systems they do interact. In wartime the picketing of non-imperial systems create much tighter working relation.
Army
- Some army troops serve on survey ships as marines and as protection detil for the planetside teams so interactions are fairly common.
Postal service
- Postal service also work as couriers for survey so there is a fair bit of interaction.
Marshals
- There is very little interaction except when marshals investigate some crime within survey.
Patrol
- There is normally very little interaction, though while surveying lesser imperial systems they do interact.
Science and Environment
- Survey and the Science and Environment have a fair amount of interaction on the science side, but little else.
Safety
- Survey and Safety have very little interaction.
Education and public information
- Survey and the Education and public information have very little interaction.
Weapon control
- Survey and the Weapon control have very little interaction.
Treasury
- Survey and the Treasury have very little interaction.
Palace guard
- Survey and the Palace guard have very little interaction.
Rangers
- Survey and the navy have very little interaction.
Special Tactics and Reconnaissance
- Like all other services survey offers assistance when asked.
Local forces:
- There are almost no interaction with local forces as most systems where survey works have no local forces.
